A day trip from Dubai to Hatta by car
Mountain roads, the dam and a slower pace, about an hour and a half from the city.
Getting there
Hatta sits in the Hajar mountains on the Dubai side of the border with Oman. The drive from central Dubai usually takes around 90 minutes, depending on traffic and your starting point.
Some routes towards Hatta pass close to the Oman border. Our rental cars may only be driven within the UAE, so stay on UAE roads.
What to see
The dam and its kayaks, the heritage village and the mountain viewpoints are the usual stops. Bring water and plan to be back before dark if you are not used to mountain roads.
Which car?
Any comfortable car will do. An SUV gives a better view over the landscape; a sports car makes the curves more fun. Stay on paved roads.
